The Roads spring sweeping schedule is available on Calgary.ca. Calgarians can now use the address look-up function on Calgary.ca/sweep or use the interactive map to find out when street sweeping will take place in their neighbourhood. The regular 2015 Spring Clean-up program began on April 13 and will run until the end of June.

CALGARY WEST RING ROAD UPDATE

On March 26th, 2015 the Government of Alberta announced that the Southwest Calgary Ring Road (SWCRR) is going ahead. However, the West Calgary Ring Road (WCRR) is not expected to begin construction until 2020-2021. Here is what this new direction means to the work that The City has undertaken:

Transportation is reviewing how the new schedule to the WCRR (begins construction in 2020-2021) affects Calgary’s road network in this area. With the SWCRR piece going ahead, the City is reviewing the timing, priority, and funding of road improvements on Calgary’s west side because the SWCRR will open three-four years before the WCRR opens.

While the Council-directed traffic review continues on the downstream impacts on Calgary’s west side, the City is changing the approach so the traffic review reflects how the Government of Alberta is moving forward with the final two ring road pieces. The City plans to continue meeting with communities about the project’s progress throughout 2015.

The ring road is owned and managed by the Government of Alberta. You can find information on their role for the SWCRR: www.sw-crr.ca and the WCRR: www.w-crr.ca.
